Job Description
SENIOR ENGINEER � Cambridgeshire - �Excellent

Senior Engineer. Senior Engineer with a background in physics, material science, process engineering graduate with around 5 years experience gained in a hi-tech engineering or manufacturing environment.

JOB PURPOSE
 
 To provide process development for the encapsulation of rigid and flexible displays, mechanical testing processes and the development of barrier layer technology. The role has primary focus on 14 inch process development but additional support will be provided to the 6 inch processing line.

ACTIVITIES
 
� Process sustaining and improvement of the 14, 6, 2 & 1 inch encapsulation lines
� Device testing and evaluation
o Support and develop metrics for mechanical testing of encapsulation and flexibility
o Calcium testing process development
o Pull Testing process development
o Mandrel testing
� Process development for Flexible/Rigid substrates and displays, involving the following areas
o Barrier layers
o Encapsulation technology
o Scribe & Break
� Production planning for substrate supply to process groups
� Process development for encapsulation through metal deposition and encapsulation tool
� Support production operation of metal deposition on tool
� Provide day-to-day process engineering support for BEOL operation of both process engineering and device testing group
� Maintain and source stock of cavity glass for demonstrators and 14 inch processes
� Working with other CDT engineers and scientists on quality improvements and yield investigations
� Lab upkeep and maintenance of a clean and safe working environment
� Use of computerised record keeping system


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

� Liaise with engineering staff for day-to-day workload and experimental details, seeking advice where needed.
� Collaborate with staff from project team and other departments to achieve objectives.
� Work closely with group leaders and project managers to ensure process developments are aligned with strategic and project goals


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

� Physics, material science, process engineering graduate with around 5 years� experience gained in a hi-tech engineering or manufacturing environment.
� A range of experience in the following areas:
o barrier layers deposition methods and metrics
o processing of flexible substrates
o glass material properties
o process control
o adhesives materials and properties
o clean-room working practices
o Scribe & Break
� An ability to work unsupervised for long periods without losing touch with the aims of the team.
� A calm and methodical approach to work during busy periods
� An ability to solve technical problems under one�s own initiative and use formal problem solving tools and methods
� An ability to react quickly and appropriately to changing priorities and unexpected demands
� Good team-playing skills and the ability to operate in multi-disciplinary/cross-functional teams
� Strong practical nature
� Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
� Excellent communication skills
� Computer literate � Good working knowledge of Microsoft software. Experience of MS Project, Autocad, Access. Knowledge of statistical software packages
